BEYOND PAVING WORKSHOP  May 2014
Partnering with Green Way Pavement and the Lackawanna State Park a workshop was held to provide information on the overall benefits of grid pavers and give instruction on the installation of ECORASTER pavers, through a hands on installation. Overall, the goals of the workshop were to create awareness of green initiatives and stormwater management, build green sustainable parking spaces that can be used as a demonstration project, decrease the amount of sediment running into an adjacent rain garden, and decrease pollution in the adjacent lake.

                                    

 

STORMWATER MANAGEMENT (MS4 & CSO) SYSTEM REVIEW  October 2013
Funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation this report was a collaborative effort between us, University of Maryland Environmental Finance Center, LRCA and Hatala Associates to create a stormwater program for the City of Scranton. Our biggest focus for the project was a complete green infrastructure inventory and analysis which highlights specific projects that can be implemented throughout the city. BROOKLYN PUMP TRACK OPEN!
July 2013
Opened in July the Brooklyn Pump Track has become a hit! Open for anyone to use, the progressive park encourages personal growth, social development, family interaction and builds self-esteem. Check out the park.

   


SOUTH ABINGTON COMMUNITY PARK AND TRAIL A SUCCESS
South Abington Township has provided residents of all ages and from multiple, surrounding communities with a safe, clean and convenient venue to recreate and enjoy nature. McLane Associates was pleased to be a part of the design process.

NEW ORCHARD STREET DEVELOPMENT IMPLEMENTS BIORETENTION BEDS
McLane Associates assisted George Dunbar, a developer and owner of Dunbar’s Evergreen Landscaping, Inc., with a stormwater management plan for the site of 10 upscale townhouses in Old Forge, PA. The plan utilized a series of bioretention beds that increased stormwater storage and promoted natural infiltration. This project highlights a Best Management Practice (BMP), bioretention, which is gaining popularity in site development.

NEW RAINGARDEN FOR LACKAWANNA COLLEGE
Lackawanna College retained McLane Associates to design a natural system to effectively handle rainwater at the site of their new Environmental Institute in Covington Township, PA. Vegetated swales, yard drains, and rainbarrels were used to redirect water from the backyard and roofs to a new raingarden. The raingarden is filled with mushroom soil/ mulch mix and native vegetation that aids in filtration, percolation, and reduction of stormwater flow off of the property. The raingarden will compliment the mission and design of the Environmental Institute.

SCRANTON'S CONNELL PARK DUE FOR MAKEOVER
The City of Scranton is reinvesting in parks across the city and South Side is no exception. South Side’s Connell Park is slated to receive new landscaping and lawn area, a new pool and a new dog park. McLane Associates in assisting with park design, construction drawing preparation and construction oversight for many of the planned park projects.
